NGC 6888: Crescent Nebula in Cygnus

Mount: Losmandy G-11 with Gemini
Camera: ST-10XME; CFW10 with Astrodon e-series filters
Exposures: 1 hr each through Ha, OIII and SII narrowband filters (6 x 10 min subexposures)
Site: Anza Borrego Desert
Conditions: moderate wind, average seeing
The Crescent is a giant gasseous shell created by powerful winds blowing from a massive star HD192163. The narrowband filters bring out the abundant hydrogen (red) and ionized sulfur (green) gas present throughout this region.
