NGC6992 is the eastern branch of this supernova remnant. About 7,000 years ago a massive and dense star exploded as a supernova. The expelled gas continues to fill this region in Cygnus with hydrogen (red) and oxygen ( blueish green).

The nebula is approx. 1500 light years away.
