NGC 7635 - Bubble Nebula in Cassiopeia

RA = 23 hrs 20 min; Dec = +61 deg 12 min

Date & Site:

Imaged on 8/18/2012 ; Running Man Observatory, Carlsbad, CA

Conditions: clear, average seeing, average transparency

Equipment:

Telescope: Celestron C9.25 at F6.3 fl=1480mm

Mount: Losmandy G-11 with Gemini; Antares .63 reducer
Camera: ST-10XME; CFW10 with Astrodon filters

Externally guided through an 80mm achromatic refractor

Notes:

Exposures: 12 x 10 min (total = 2 hrs) through 3 nm Ha filter

FOV = 15.6 x 14.7 arc minutes

Located 11,000 light years away, the bubble nebula is the created by radiation from the hot massive hot young central star. The nebula happens to be near a giant molecular cloud which contains the expanding bubble while being excited by the hot central star causing the bubble to glow.
