Conditions: calm; 59 degrees; poor seeing and transparency, clear

Equipment:

Telescope: DSI RC10C 1867 mm fl at f/7.3

Camera: ST-10XME; CFW10; Internally autoguided

Notes:

Exposures: 2 hrs 20 min min lum (10 min subs) and 35 min each of RGB (5 min subs) for total of 4 hrs 5 min.

Lord Rosse a mid 19th century astronomer who had several telescopes built (including a 72" telescope known as the "Leviathan of Parsonstown") identified spiral structures within the galaxy, making this one of the first galaxies in which such structure was identified (Jones, 1991).
