Telescope: Takahashi FSQ106 Refractor (530 mm fl f/5)

Mount: Losmandy G-11 with Gemini
Camera: ST-10XME; CFW10 with Astrodon filters;


Exposures: RGB in 10 minute subexposures for 80 min (R), 60 min (G) and 110 min (B) for a total of 4 hrs 10 min.

Imaged over 2 nights during periods of fluctuating transparency and temperatures

IC2118 is an extremely faint reflection nebula believed to be an ancient supernova remnant or gas cloud illuminated by the nearby supergiant Rigel in Orion. The nature of the dust particles, reflecting blue and red light form what some see as a Witch Head. North is up in this image.
