Magnitude: 3.0 
Constellation: Virgo 
Distance:  71.5 million km;  0.47 AU or 3.98 light minutes 
   
Notes: Originating in the Ort cloud, Comet A3 was discovered in 2023 by the Purple Mountain Observatory in China and independently by ATLAS South Africa. It reached peak brightness of -4.9 in October 2023. If it survives the trip around the sun, Comet A3 will revisit our inner solar system next in 80,000 years.
