A massive star forming region, the heart
and soul together span nearly 580 light years across. The soul nebula
(lower) contains several open clusters, the dominant one is designated IC1848.The Soul's emission nebula is known as Westerhout 5.
The large open cluster to the right of the heart nebula is Stock 2; a 4.4mag
cluster 990 light years away. North is
left in this image. |
